Measuring Guide
Measure the wall area you want covered, then enter those dimensions on the product page. For the best fit, use the widest width and tallest height, and round up to the next whole inch.
What You Need
- Tape measure or laser measure
- Pencil or marker
- Phone notes or notepad for recording measurements
- Step ladder, if needed
- A second person for wide or tall walls
Standard Wall
Measure the full wall area you want the mural to cover.
- Measure the width from the left edge to the right edge.
- Measure the height from the top edge to the bottom edge.
- Measure in more than one place, because walls are not always perfectly square or even.
- Use the largest width and largest height.
If your wall is 108.5 in wide, enter 109 in. Do not round down.
What Not to Include
Only measure the area that should be covered by wallpaper.
Do not include baseboards, crown molding, ceiling trim, or any border you do not want covered.
Doors, Windows, Outlets, and Other Obstacles
Measure the full wall as one rectangle. Do not subtract doors, windows, outlets, switches, shelves, or other openings.
Those areas are cut out during installation. Measuring the full rectangle keeps the design continuous and gives you enough material to trim cleanly.
Sloped or Angled Walls
Measure the widest width and tallest height as if the wall were a full rectangle. The sloped or angled area is trimmed away during installation.
If the design has an important subject near the edge, contact us before ordering so we can help with the crop.
Stair Walls
For a stair wall, measure the full rectangular area that covers the stair run.
- Measure the widest horizontal width from the start to the end of the area.
- Measure the tallest vertical height from the lowest point to the highest point.
- Order that full rectangle.
The extra triangular areas will be trimmed during installation.
Multiple Adjacent Walls
If the mural should continue around a corner across two or more adjacent walls, measure each wall width separately, then add the widths together. Use the tallest height.
Example: if Wall A is 96 in wide and Wall B is 72 in wide, enter 168 in total width. If Wall A is 96 in tall and Wall B is 95 in tall, enter 96 in height.
If each wall should have its own centered design, order them separately or contact us before ordering.
Should I Add Extra to My Measurements?
No. Enter the wall size you want covered, rounded up to the next whole inch.
Inches, Feet, or Centimeters
You can enter dimensions in ft/in, inches, or cm on the product page.
- If measuring in inches, round up to the next whole inch.
- If measuring in ft/in, convert any fraction to the next full inch.
- If measuring in cm, round up to the next whole cm.
Example: 9 ft 7.5 in should be entered as 9 ft 8 in.
Before You Order
Double-check these points:
- Width is measured at the widest point.
- Height is measured at the tallest point.
- Fractions are rounded up, not down.
- Doors and windows are included in the full wall measurement.
- Baseboards and trim are not included unless you want them covered.
- Sloped walls and stair walls are ordered as full rectangles.
- Contact us if you need a specific crop or want to make sure an important part of the artwork is not cut off.
